The Amazon Awaits Expedition will be taking place in South America’s Amazon Rainforest, on the Rio Negro and Amazon Rivers. Here are some facts about the Amazon!

The Amazon River:
• Is the largest river in the world in terms of flow and volume of water
• Runs through 7 countries: Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Bolivia, Venezuela, Ecuador, & Guyana
• is approximately 4,000 miles long
• has some sections that are up to 120 miles wide
• is made up of over 1,000 tributary sources (rivers & streams);
• is home to over 1/3 of all the species in the world (including the surrounding rainforest)
